When I first got my Embroidery Machine I had no idea what I needed to begin. During my ventures into embroidery these are the tools and supplies that I needed and use almost every time I embroider.
First you’ll need Tear Away Embroidery Stabilizer … The name says it all, you’ll put this in your hoop and it tears away from your finished piece. I order one almost every month.

We also should have on hand some Cut Away Stabilizer, I prefer World Weidner Brand but there are others out there.

When shopping for scissors you’ll need a few different ones to cut different items. My Janome pink are my favorite I have 4 pairs of them haha! I use these to cut jump stitches, bobbin and trimming the threads that dangle. I only use these for thread.

My Kai scissors I use to trim felt, fabric and embroidery vinyl. It cuts like butter trust me.

You probably have a pair of pinking shears laying around in the junk drawer. I use these sometimes not always but its good to have on hand.

I use a thread holder for my Singer machine its highly recommended. You may not need one but may prefer it.

We can’t forget our Dritz seam ripper.. Yikes! Life saver!

How about some water soluble stabilizer topper or WSS for your embroidery projects. This name says it all, you lay on top of fluffy fabrics like minky or plush, it keeps the stitching from sinking into your fabrics.

One more pair of scissors I do recommend in place of the pink janome are applique snips. I know I know so many scissors

Let’s not forget Polyester Embroidery Thread … bigger is better. You’ll need black and white

Your machine will come with bobbins maybe even some pre wound. Depending on which machine you have it’s best to have extras on hand.

505 Temporary adhesive spray may be needed but highly recommend.

Needles you’ll need LOTS, you’ll break lots along the way. I buy in bulk to have spares. I prefer Schmetz but you can use Organ Needles in 90/14 or 75/11

You’re going to need a spool stand for all those spools of threads I highly recommend a wall hanging. I have 3 hanging on the wall 🙂

I know this all sounds like a lot but trust me when I say this you will thank me later!
